New beach police for Fuengirola

Fuengirola now has a new beach police force

Fuengirola’s coastline has been rated as the safest in Spain by Blue Flag. The beach security of the city’s beaches is now improved with the additions of 14 new guards.

This team, coordinated with the local police will ensure compliance to municipal beach regulations up until September 15th. The beach security guards officially took office in a ceremony at the Town Hall’s Salón Real, attended by Mayor Ana Mula, Councillor for Beaches José Sánchez, Councillor for Public Safety José Luis Ponce, and Local Police Chief Inspector Sergio Luna.

“Fuengirola offers the best services for residents and tourists, maximizing their enjoyment of our beaches,” said Mayor Mula during the ceremony. She emphasized the city’s commitment in maintaining high standards and aiming to exceed previous seasons’ qualities.

The police will be in duty from 11am to 9pm every day. The officers will enforce beach laws, monitor activity, respond to emergencies and provide information. They will also oversee administrative permits. Fuengirola already has a comprehensive safety system, including lifeguards and local police. Their presence will enhance that.

Fuengirola’s beaches – Castillo, Fuengirola, Los Boliches-Las Gaviotas, and Carvajal – have again this year earned Blue Flags for their entire coastline, making this the sixth consecutive year and tenth overall. The Association for Environmental and Consumer Education awarded the distinctions and praised each beach’s pristine state, accessibility, environmental control, and water-quality. Fuengirola was awarded special recognition this year for Spain’s top safety and lifeguard services.
