Fuengirola is hosting the 14th year of Dog Day (Día del Perro) on April 6, a much loved event for animal lovers, set against the scenic slopes of Sohail Castle. 

The day is aimed at strengthening bonds between residents, their dogs and Fuengirola as a pet friendly destination.  

Walkies time is at 10am in Plaza de España where participants will receive pet gifts before joining a dog parade along the promenade to Parque del Castillo. The tents and stands of the participating groups and companies will have a range of engaging activities such as exhibitions. parades. raffles. and adoption opportunities. 

The weather permitting, this year, Castillo Beach will introduce a new sport – doggie paddle surf.

One highlight will be Málaga National Police’s Special Canine Unit showcasing their police dogs’ skills, followed by an educational agility course led by trainer José Luque López. 

Animal welfare organizations, such as the Animal Domus shelter will be promoting and displaying dogs in search of forever homes. The proceeds from the charity bar will go to animal charities.  

Dog Day has been a social highlight for Fuengirola residents and visitors alike, combining fun, family and appreciation of pets. Save the date: Sunday, April 6, at 10am at Plaza de España, Fuengirola.
