A boat caught fire on the afternoon of Tuesday, 20 May, just off the coast of Fuengirola in Málaga, according to a video shared a few minutes ago by Fuengirolasequeja.
On the way to Fuengirola on the motorway, a plume of thick black smoke could be seen.
Last month, a fire on the El Palo coastline caused a large column of smoke visible from various parts of Málaga city. According to emergency services (112) several witnesses reported a boat emitting some smoke near the coast, although it was not in the water.
The fire was put out by firefighters, national and local officers, who were all dispatched. The fires destroyed a catamaran which was beached.
A man suffered smoke inhalation in Tarifa in February after a fire occurred on a boat that was moored to the port. The fire started in the Nuevo Fontanilla For reasons that are still unknown, vessel is not available.
Another boat was destroyed by a fire in Sotogrande Port, Spain. The fire was fueled by approximately 8,000 litres fuel. It forced the closure of businesses in the area and prompted authorities to advise residents to close their windows to avoid fumes.
