From Sierra Nevada to the Pyrenees

From Sierra Nevada to Pyrenees

The demand for real estate in Spain’s ski resorts, which are not as well-known as the beach, is steadily increasing.

Buyers are increasingly interested in mountain homes, from luxury chalets in Pyrenees, to high-altitude properties in Sierra Nevada. These homes offer year-round appeal, winter sports, and long-term value.

A recent buyer told The Olive Press that having a ski property transformed the way he and family used their closest resort in the Sierra Nevada.

Ben Bateman, who owns a property conveniently located in the center of the resort behind the Kenia Hotel explains, “Having a place to leave your stuff, and return at any time, makes it a home away.”

Bateman 47, owner of the long-standing Holmes Estate Agency in Sotogrande, recalled his excitement when he visited the ski house where he grew up.

Ben Batemen of Sierra Nevada, owner of the charming chalet, is able to hit the slopes easily from his charming chalet.

“Spending a full day traveling by bus, train, and car just to get to the mountains – then skiing feverishly to make the most of it. The father of 5 says, “It was exhausting at the end.”

He realized the value of owning his own ski lodge, which he could use as he pleases every weekend. Of course, location matters. He says, “It’s only three minutes walk to the cable car and an easy stroll to excellent bars and restaurant, all with incredible views.”
