A FRENCH FUGITIVE wanted by the police for murder stole a boat and fled to his native France. However, he was caught on an autoroute in Costa Blanca after the GPS tracking device revealed where it was.
Two men took the €120,000 vessel from the marina at Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer and put it on a trailer that they stole a year earlier.
They paired it up with their SUV and fled on the same day, across the border into Spain.

The thieves had not counted on their boat’s GPS, which indicated that they were in Alicante Province.
The Guardia Civil received information and established a checkpoint near the Tibi Service Area on the AP-7.
The car driver did not stop when he saw the boat and SUV.
The Guardia pursued the vehicle for several kilometers until it stopped when it exited the motorway.
Officers found the driver of the SUV, but also a second person trying to hide behind the rear seat.
The police discovered that he was the subject of a European Arrest Warrant (EAW) for murder, with both men having committed multiple crimes throughout France.
The car and boat were also taken to Alicante.
The suspect in the murder case was placed under arrest pending extradition.
