Cap Rocat Festival in Mallorca celebrates its fifth annual event | Credit: Festival’s website
The Madina Mayurqa Foundation, in partnership with the Cap Rocat, announces the launch of the 5th edition of the Festival Cap Rocat. It will take place from Friday, August 1, through Sunday, Aug 3, 2018.
The festival’s website says: “After the national and international success of previous editions in which the Festival Cap Rocat established itself as one the major musical events of European summer this year, it will offer three musical performances in which you can enjoy the performances by prestigious classical musicians.” website states.
The fort at Cape Enderrocat is located in Llucmajor in Mallorca. It offers a unique sensory experience. The fort built in 1889 was equipped with cannons strong enough to defend Palma from even the fiercest enemies.
The ancient fortress ‘dresses up’
Now the fort has the privilege of being graced by international classical music stars. The ancient fortress has been dressed to welcome world-famous performers like Pretty Yende and Maxim Vengerov. All of this is framed by a unique cultural event on the Mediterranean.
The Festival Cap Rocat, which was founded in 2021 has become one of Balearic Islands’ most important events.
The Festival Cap Rocat Inspira has been created to help support and showcase emerging talent within the classical music field. Our carefully-designed training program offers young performers the chance to perfect their craft in a unique setting, surrounded with renowned artists and international mentors.
The program will be expanded this year and based on three complementary activities. An opening session that opens the door to reflection and inspiration.
Promote excellence in music
The soprano Pretty Yeende will be giving a master class to four singers selected from auditions in Mallorca in collaboration with the Coro Festival Cap Rocat and Madrid within the Crescendo Program of the Friends of the Teatro Real. The selected singers are Cristina Van Roy and Inma Hidalgo (Coro Festival Cap Rocat), and Lucía Iglesias and Natividad Oval (Crescendo program).
Two prominent music critics from the island will be present at the closing event (to confirm).
This space of meeting between generations is not just about promoting musical excellence. It’s also about cultivating the creativity, sensitivity, and artistic commitment of the people who represent the music of the future.
The Foundation focuses on creating cultural events and preserving the local traditions of Mallorca, as well as the architectural heritage.
