From April 30 to May 4, Fuengirola’s Fairgrounds will burst with colour with the 29th year of the Feria Internacional de los Países, previously known as the Feria de los Pueblos.
Fuengirola has a cultural highlight that showcases the sounds, tastes, and cultures of 33 different countries. The event offers a rich tapestry featuring global cuisine, music and traditions.
The fair will open on April 30 in conjunction with Children’s Day and offer 50% off all rides for children. Music stops a little earlier than usual to respect rest times. On May 1, a grand cultural parade starts at 11.30am from Plaza de España, with over 1,500 participants in traditional costumes dancing through the town centre to the fairgrounds. At noon, booths representing the various countries will be open.
Each booth will be decorated with intricate detail, and each country will offer authentic dishes, such as Argentine steaks, Spanish paellas and sushi, Japanese sushi and Mexican tacos. Live performances and unique crafts are also included. A daily ‘silent hour’ from 5pm to 6pm will make sure of accessibility for those with autism spectrum disorders.
The fair begins with an opening presentation and show on April 25 at 8pm in Plaza de la Constitución, with performances and free samples of cuisine from each of the countries. The fair promises an immersive experience with its special decorative and artistic elements.
The number of attendees is expected to be high, so it’s recommended that you use public transportation, such as Renfe C-1 or special nightly trains.
