In the early hours of Saturday, June 14, a tragic accident occurred on the A-7 motorway near San Pedro Alcántara, which resulted in one fatality and multiple injuries.
It was at approximately 7.30am when a car travelling in the direction of Cádiz veered across the median, colliding with three other vehicles in a chain-reaction crash at kilometre 1,052, according to reports from local social media users.
Six people were involved in the collision, including one person who died and another who suffered serious injuries. Paramedics and police officers, as well as firefighters, rushed to the scene to help and manage the situation. The vehicle which crossed the median was badly damaged and almost unrecognisable. This caused traffic to be halted in both directions.
Local authorities temporarily closed the Malaga-bound lane, and diverted traffic through Nueva Andalucía. Emergency teams cleared the road and restored normal traffic flow. Authorities urge drivers to be extremely cautious on the A-7 and especially in the section that goes through Marbella. Officials are still investigating the cause of the accident, and trying to find out why the vehicle crossed over into the oncoming traffic.
