Eddie Jordan, charismatic former Formula One boss and TV personality has died at the age 76. His family confirmed this.

Jordan, an Irish entrepreneur and one of the most recognizable faces in sports, died peacefully surrounded by his family in Cape Town on 20 March 2025 after a year long battle with aggressive prostate carcinoma.
His family released a statement saying that EJ “brought so much charm, charisma and energy to everything he does.” “He leaves a huge hole in our lives but also countless happy memories.”
Jordan’s team, which was named after Jordan himself, competed in 250 race between 1991 and 2005. Michael Schumacher received his F1 début and achieved the career highlight one-two at the Belgian Grand Prix of 1998.

F1 chief executive Stefano Domenicali, who is based in Shanghai, paid Jordan a tribute ahead of the Chinese Grand Prix. He described Jordan as “genuine and brilliant, with infectious energy”.
Christian Horner – the team principal of Red Bull – recalled Jordan’s 1991 meeting. He said: “Formula One is a poorer place for the loss of a legend.” “Eddie always had a lot of Irish charm and wit.” I’ll never forget his advice to me as a young driver: ‘Get a good sponsor … welcome to the Piranha Club!'”
Jordan stepped down from team ownership but remained an important figure in motorsport. He was a popular commentator with the BBC before moving on to Channel 4 and making appearances on Top Gear.

Jordan was also involved in other business ventures. He led the consortium which bought London Irish Rugby club, and facilitated Adrian Newey’s switch from Red Bull Aston Martin.
Jordan, in a candid podcast he did last year, urged his listeners to be proactive about their health. He said: “Don’t wait.” Test yourself. Look after your body, guys.”
Eddie Jordan’s bold spirit and passion for motorsport has left a lasting impression on Formula One.
