Arturo Torro’s body was discovered in his car Wednesday night. A MURDER investigation has been launched.
When Xeresa Policia Local, Guardia Civil and Xeresa Police Local arrived on scene around 11pm the 62-yearold man was found with a bullet wound in his chest.
The vehicle’s engine was still running on the N-332 at Xeresa when it was found.

Arturo Torro, the first Partido Popular Gandia mayor from 2011 to 2015 was ousted by a coalition consisting of the Socialists and Compromis.
Torro, who entered politics in 1990, created the optical franchise Grupovision in the 90s. The company opened over 350 stores in twenty countries. Torro was then the youngest businessman of Spain with the most number of operating franchises.
He has set up Angels Vision, a franchise that sells glasses and hearing aids in shops all over Spain.
After being found guilty of corruption while he served as mayor of Gandia, he received a prison sentence and a ban from holding public office for a total period six years and six months in April 2023.
It involved the awarding audiovisual communication services contracts to the city from 2012 to 2015.
A Valencia court ruled that Torro was ‘an official with decision-making power and the capacity to dispose of public funds’.
Torro awaited the execution the prison sentence.
