Estepona Council has dismissed rumours of an illegal occupation at the beach access area between Dominion Beach and El Velerín, branding it as “fake news.”
The council claim that the tittle-tattle spread by the opposition is meant to undermine support for the current administration led by Mayor José María García Urbano.
They explained that the alleged squatting involved a local urbanisation, replacing an existing metal fence by a new wall. This project was fully compliant with city planning regulations and had all of its licenses in order.
Recently, council technicians and local law enforcement officers visited the site to confirm the legality of the construction. The council posted on social media that this was a “new hoax” launched by the opposition in order to deceive and provocate the public. They stressed their commitment to openness.
Estepona also achieved a financial milestone by paying off all the council debts accumulated under the previous administration. This achievement, highlighted by Mayor García Urbano, allows for an average 20 per cent reduction in property tax, reinforcing the current administration’s fiscal responsibility. The statement is intended to reassure the public and reassure residents in light of what they call politically motivated misinformation campaigns.
The recent gossip follows another 2 recent claims directed at Mayor José María García Urbano, which were thrown out of court for lack of any evidence.
