The Town Hall of Estepona is working quickly to restore the beaches damaged by storms in time for summer. Recent storms have caused significant erosion along the coast, removing large stretches sand.
Local authorities and the Spanish Coastal Department are working together to accelerate emergency work. The goal is to restore popular beach areas like Playa del Cristo, La Rada, and El Padron, before summer visitors arrive.
In several areas, work has already started. Trucks bring in new sand, while machines level and reinforce the shore. The council confirmed that these repairs were temporary, but necessary to keep the beaches safe and enjoyable for this summer.
The planning phase is still ongoing for long-term solutions. This includes new breakwaters as well other protective measures that will prevent further erosion.
Estepona Mayor stressed the urgency of taking action: “Our beaches are our largest attractions.” “We need them to be in excellent condition for residents and businesses as well as tourists.”
Local business owners, expats in the area and local residents have all welcomed these repairs.
You can expect some activity on the coast in the next few weeks, whether you live or visit Estepona. The goal is to restore the beaches as quickly as possible and make Estepona look its best in the months ahead.
