Marbella’s Costa del Sol recently welcomed a familiar figure as Manchester City striker Erling haaland, who is currently out of action due to an ankle injury, mixed with local children.
The Norwegian star, who owns a €6 million property in the city purchased in 2022, has made Marbella his hideaway during breaks and summers. During the pandemic, the Norwegian team had to train here in Malaga and play their matches there.
Haaland’s latest visit came after a tough blow – an ankle injury suffered in an FA Cup match against Bournemouth, sidelining him for five to seven weeks. Haaland was seen on crutches, with a protective band around his ankle. He still managed to pose with the UD San Pedro girl’s team after their match at the weekend. The club shared the moment online, calling it ‘a unique experience’ to meet ‘one of the world’s best players’.
Haaland has scored 30 goals in just 40 matches, a remarkable feat considering the rocky season Manchester City had. They were out of the Champions League, and they trailed in the Premiership. Pep guardiola hopes Haaland will be back for the FA Cup final against Nottingham Forest, and the Club World Cup. Meanwhile, Haaland’s Marbella sightings, including past photos with the mayor and the Marbella FC shirt, make him a true Marbellí.
