Francisco Roig has been hired by Emma Raducanu as a full-time coach ahead of the US Open this month.
Mark Petchey has worked on an informal basis with Raducanu since March. His television commitments, however, have prevented him becoming Raducanu’s full-time trainer.
Roig has agreed to a deal until the end 2025, following a trial after his stint at Wimbledon. He lost in straight sets against Aryna Sabalenka during the third round.
Anna Kalinskaya then reached the semi-finals at the Cincinnati Open during the last week in July. However, she was just too strong. Kalinskaya then lost to Leylah Ferrandez in the final.
Raducanu is hoping to be seeded in the US Open, which will take place later this month. Top players are separated by the draw and so won’t meet each other during the early rounds.
