According to experts, factors such as noise, air quality and the presence of nearby coffee shops can all have an impact on our ability to sleep.
Mental Health Platform has released a new study. Unobravo A study has ranked thirty Spanish cities according to how well they promote restful sleeping. Elche in the Valencian Community, with a population of around 235,000 people, was named as the best city for restful sleep.
Elche is the most sleep-friendly city in Spain
Elche is located in Alicante and received the highest rating of 7.97 out 10 for sleeping-friendly conditions.
This city has the best air quality (77/100), lowest noise and light pollution (43/100), as well as the most green spaces (66%). The study states that these factors together create an atmosphere of calmness and nature for better sleep. La Razon.
Cordoba & Vitoria -Gasteiz complete podium
Cordoba in Andalusia ranked second, thanks to its impressive score of 80 for air quality, its 51% of green space and the relatively low level of noise/light pollution it suffers (38/100). According to the study, its high-speed Internet of 174Mbps can also help reduce digital interruptions during bedtime.
Vitoria Gasteiz in Basque Country is third. The city won the bronze medal for its air quality (100/100), and lowest level of pollution (31/100). Six coffee shops per 100,000 people are also found in the city. This limits caffeine consumption at night. Its sleep-friendly atmosphere is completed by 51% of balanced green space.

The study also highlights the three golden rules of better sleep. The first rule is to stick to a regular schedule. Go to sleep and wake up every morning at the same times. The second rule is to create a healthy ritual and follow it consistently before going to bed.
Last but not the least, keep active and eat well: Exercise regularly and avoid heavy dinners before bedtime.
