STAFF at seven airports in the UK and Channel Islands are eligible for a £1.20-a-bag payment through a new incentive scheme.
It’s time to worry if you’ve ever worried about a bag you were toting that wasn’t in accordance with your company’s rules.
The Guardian Reports indicate that an email was leaked, as first reported by The Jersey Evening PostAirport staff can earn cash bonuses if they spot an easyJet passenger with a large bag.
Swissport, the aviation company that operates passenger gates at airports, said that staff are able to ‘receive £1.20 for every gate bag taken’.

EasyJet currently allows passengers to bring a small bag under their seat. For a fee, larger bags can be placed in the overhead compartments.
The email was sent in November 2023. It is still valid today.
EasyJet flies 4 million times a year. Although their bag policy is clearly stated at the time of booking, this may anger passengers as they see it as an additional way to make profit. The majority of passengers will have more than a single bag in their hand luggage no matter the length or distance they travel.
Last month the Transport Committee of the European Parliament approved a bill that would give passengers a free piece of extra hand luggage up to 7kg. This amendment would allow passengers to have both a personal bag as well as an overhead bag at no extra cost.
It still needs approval from at least 55% EU member states. The law, if adopted, would apply to all flights in and out of the EU as well as flights into and from the EU.
The introduction of standard dimensions for hand luggage would make air travel easier.
