After the easyJet cabin staff strike, more than 60 flights have been cancelled. This is a huge inconvenience for thousands of holidaymakers.
As cabin crew from the budget airline took part in the second of three days of planned industrial action, flights were cancelled at Barcelona, Alicante and Malaga.
Over 650 USO members have taken part in the walkout to highlight the difference between the salaries of Spanish cabin crews and those from other European countries.
The strike has impacted EasyJet’s four Spanish bases – Barcelona (143 workers), Alicante (106), Malaga (127) and Palma de Mallorca (281) – and will last until Friday.
EasyJet employees are demanding the same pay as their European colleagues.

According to the USO, the basic salary of Spanish cabin crew at EasyJet is €14,067, significantly lower than the €18,214 staff are paid in Portugal, €19,086 in Italy, or €27,147 in the Netherlands.
Pier Luigi Copello is the general secretary of easyJet’s USO. He said, “Spanish cabin crew are paid the lowest wages in Europe.” While our basic salary is €14,067 per year, our European colleagues earn between 29% more, in the case of Portugal, and in excess of 200% more, in the case of Switzerland.”
USO Malaga President, Miguel Galan added: “The problem is aggravated when we consider that EasyJet has bases in Spain in four cities where it’s expensive to rent or purchase housing. This, in addition to the severe crisis of the real estate market with rising prices and a shortage of rentals.”
Tourists affected by strikes could be eligible for compensation.
