Easter Thursday (April 17, 2020) and Good Friday (2025) will affect the opening hours of local shops and services as well as public transport.
Andalusia, as well as the rest of Spain, will be closed for these national holidays. The majority of shops, such as supermarkets Aldi and Mercadona, will close on Friday. Only the busiest ones may open on Thursday.
In larger towns, pharmacies may operate on a holiday schedule on Easter Thursday. However, they are likely to be closed on Good Friday. Post offices, banks, and other public services are also closed. Bars and restaurants in popular spots like Málaga, Marbella, and Fuengirola will mostly stay open, but it’s wise to check specific hours at individual establishments.
During the Easter holiday, public transport will operate on a Sunday schedule, which includes buses and trains. This applies from Easter Thursday until Easter Sunday. Prepare for fewer departures, and plan your travels accordingly.
La Cañada, Marbella, is keeping everything open according to their website, and so is Miramar, Fuengirola.
