Early forecasts warn those preparing for Semana Sana in Andalucia to prepare for more rain.
The online weather portal Eltiempo.es has issued a preliminary prediction suggesting a ‘slightly more rainy’ Holy Week for the southern Iberian Peninsula.
Rainfall may increase in several areas during the week-long religious festival, which runs from April 13th (Palm Sunday), to April 20th (Easter Sunday).
Most affected are the Costa del Sol, Andalucia and its surrounding areas, Murcia, Canary Islands and southern Castilla La Mancha.

Experts in local meteorology urge caution.
Jesus Riesco of the Malaga Meteorological Centre has reminded people to be skeptical about long-term weather forecasts that are more than three weeks out.

Only the average rainfall of Malaga in April is available as a definitive figure. It measures typically 44 litres/square metre.
Semana Santa 2010 was a total failure, demoralizing hundreds of religious brothers across the country.
The 2024 celebrations held in late march were some of the wettest in recent times.
Malaga experienced unprecedented rainfall of 90mm, which resulted in only 22 religious brotherhoods being able to parade through the streets.

The current forecast indicates that temperatures will remain typical of April with only slight variations in the Balearic Islands.
The current warm weather is a source of comfort for locals. The warm wind has been driving up temperatures, with some coastal areas reaching 26 degrees.
Cities like Velez-Malaga have already recorded highs of 24.C , with Coín close behind at 23.4C .

The weekend weather forecast calls for temperatures of around 26C. In the coming weeks, the temperature is expected to fall to 20C near the coast and down 16C in the interior.
The rest of the month or the beginning of next week is expected to be dry.
Residents are encouraged to check the latest weather forecasts closer to Holy Week.
It has now been confirmed that March 2018 is the wettest month in Madrid since 1893.
