Drug smuggling has returned to Spain’s Costa del Sol. Seven narcos have been arrested after they unloaded cocaine onto the beach at Manilva – CSN News


A BAND OF drug traffickers was surprised by the police when they unloaded their goods on a popular beach in one of Costa del Sol’s most popular tourist areas and expat zones.

Police Nacional arrested seven people when they raided 150 kilograms worth of cocaine in the early hours of the morning on a stretch of beach between Manilva & Casares.

The investigation, which culminated on Monday 10th March, was carried out by specialist anti-narcotics teams and organised crime units. 

Police had been monitoring the suspected criminal gang’s activities for some time before intercepting what authorities describe as a ‘significant shipment.’

Seven suspected narcos have been arrested while they attempted to dump 150kg of coca onto a beach in between Manilva (region shown on the picture) and Casares.

After providing statements at the court hearings, two suspects were remanded to custody without bail.

Five of the remaining suspects chose to exercise their right to silence and were freed on bail. When summoned, they will have to appear before the court.

All of the individuals involved are under investigation for crimes against public safety, illegal weapon possession, falsification of documents related to boat registration and theft and misuse of motor vehicles.

After a long hiatus, drug traffickers have returned to popular beaches on the Costa del Sol after moving north to the coast of Cadiz.

Recent stormy weather may have caused the narco speedboats to travel shorter distances across the Strait Gibraltar.
