The ‘Mójate con Mijas’ campaign is back after phenomenal success in 2024, and again bringing together Mijas council, Aquamijas water park, and different eight local associations and charities to provide free access to cooling summer fun while supporting community needs.
Aquamijas, who donated 2,400 tickets for free to the waterpark, held an official launch on Friday, 30 May. The participating associations will exchange these tickets with essential donations, such as hygiene products, food, school supplies or cleaning products. The associations will provide tickets if you bring essential donations such as food, school supplies, cleaning products, or hygiene items.
The collaborating groups are Adimi, AFA Mijas, AFA Fuengirola-Mijas Costa, Apaffer, Avatés, Cruz Roja, Nueva Cultura del Desarrollo, and Sembrando Sonrisas, and they are distributing the tickets at their respective headquarters, using the campaign to raise awareness of their services and also collect vital goods for those who are struggling in the community.
“This benefits everyone,” said Mijas Councillor Mari Francis Alarcón during the presentation with the groups. Families get access to the Water Park, while Associations receive requested donations and showcase their work.
The social media pages of each association will announce their donation requirements and collection schedules. Tickets are allocated according to the first-come-first-served principle. Tickets are only available to Mijas residents, and they’re valid for specific dates. Avatés president Pepi Moya talked of their collection point near Las Lagunas Health Centre, requesting food and cleaning products. ‘The initiative by Aquamijas and the council benefits so many families here,’ she said.
The ‘Mójate con Mijas’ (Get wet Mijas) campaign is another feather in the cap of the town’s commitment to inclusivity and charity, meaningful support for local causes. Residents can find out more about how to get involved by following the social media accounts of the associations.
