Discovering the power and beauty of Mediterranean lifestyle

In Spain, people don’t rush breakfast. The Spanish talk, drink and still manage to make it on time. Then I realized what I had been doing. The Mediterranean lifestyle is not about time. It’s all about attitude. It’s about a way of life that prioritizes connection, joy and balance over speed and stress.

My life was very different a few years back. I was always busy, stressed out and not in the best of health. My blood sugar level was high, I had no energy and all my meals were from boxes or screens. Ironically, as a chef I had forgotten to enjoy food.

The change came when I returned home to the Mediterranean. I started eating the real thing again, colourful vegetables, fish, olive oil and fruit from the local market. I started to walk daily, spend time outdoors, and slow down in order to really taste life. In a few weeks, I had more energy, my blood glucose was stable, and I felt lighter and calmer.

The Mediterranean lifestyle is powerful because it restores. Balance. It’s important to replace the wrong things with the right ones. You will find that your body is in harmony when you eat healthy, move frequently, rest well, and make connections with others. This is why people in the Mediterranean have lower stress, a healthier heart, a balanced blood sugar level, and fewer health problems.

True wellbeing does not revolve around perfection. It’s about rhythm and a constant flow of eating well, exercising, relaxing and having fun. Health becomes easier the more you align yourself with it.

In this column, you’ll learn how to bring these simple, sustainable practices into your life, no matter where you live. The Mediterranean lifestyle is full of everything you need for a healthy life, from food and fitness to joy and mindset.
