The Valencia floods of October 2010 claimed the life of a GRANADA resident who was reported missing in 1984.
Miguel Morales (72), was officially declared deceased in 2016, however, his body was discovered by flood torrents in a Quart De Poblet orange grove in November.
Sara, his daughter, said: “The Guardia Civil contacted us in mid November because no one claimed his body when they identified him using his fingerprint that appeared on his DNI identity card.”

She added, “He did not have any current documents on him.”
Sara was a baby of one year old and had a three-year-old sister when their father disappeared.
Miguel’s wife had filed a report of a missing person and it wasn’t until 2016 that the judge ruled Miguel dead, retroactively dating back to 1994. The civil code stipulates a 10 year period.
Sara explained, “As soon as we filed a report for his disappearance the Guardia called us to inform about his body.”
Miguel has lived in total obscurity since his disappearance, 41 years ago.
Sara revealed that “He did not have an ID, a bank account, a medical card, he had no medical history, and he never applied for the state pension.”
“I contacted a few associations, but he was classified homeless and no one knew anything about him.
Miguel Morales was hospitalised for mental illness when he lived in Granada.
Sara said it was common for him to ‘disappear for for two to three days’.
His family arranged a funeral in Valencia and the transfer of his ashes to Granada.
