Darkness into Light, Costa del Sol

Darkness into Light, Costa del Sol

The Darkness Into Light Charity Walk returns to Costa del Sol in 2025 and promises its largest year ever.

Pieta launched the now global campaign in Dublin in 2009, to raise funds and awareness for suicide prevention. It began with 400 walkers at Phoenix Park and now has over 150,000 participants in 150 locations around the world.

On the Costa del Sol walks in Benalmadena La Cala de Mijas and Estepona support AFESOL the local mental healthcare charity. AFESOL is a local mental health charity that offers workshops at schools for free, provides psychological support to those with suicidal ideas, counsels survivors and supports families. The event promotes solidarity in the community and helps to break down the stigma surrounding this issue.

Pieta was founded in 2006. Since then, it has helped 70,000 people through free services. The walk begins at dawn, a transition from darkness into light. This is a symbol of hope. Routes begin at Plaza el Remo in Benalmadena (La Carihuela), outside Biddy Mulligans La Cala de Mijas and Chiringuito Blue Dolphin Estepona.
