A MOROCCAN barber who worked in the Barcelona region was deported to Morocco for recruiting and indoctrinating fighters in his salon for the Islamic State terror organization.
The jihadist was a resident of Mataro, was expelled from the country by the National Court earlier this month and put on a flight to Casablanca.
The Guardia Civil arrested the 53-year old along with another male in 2018 on suspicion of being a member of a Catalan jihadist cell.

In 2015, investigations began after cooperation with Moroccan that linked him to recruitment of fighters to Syria as well as direct connections with different people in different jihadist cell.
He was a Mataro hairdresser who indoctrinated his clients into recruiting fighters and nurturing Daesh forces.
He also participated in meetings held in Mataro and Barcelona.
In 2019, sanctions against him were launched for his involvement in activities which threatened national security.
The hairdresser returned to Matar0 in 2022, with a provisional release date. She was monitored closely.
He was discovered by authorities when his Spanish residence permit was removed at the request of Mataro Policia Local. His brother-in law went to Syria to join Daesh, and died fighting.
The National Court approved his expulsion. He was then arrested and taken to Madrid Airport.
The Schengen area of the EU is included in the ban. Ten years is a reasonable period.
