Andalucia experienced mud rain in some areas last night. It’s caused by a mixture of rainfall and Saharan dust resulting in reddish muddy precipitation.
The sky was lit up by hundreds of lightning strikes in the last few hours of last night’s thunderstorms.
Most of the mud rain was reported in western Andalucia. This includes areas in Cadiz and Huelva but also in inland regions like Granada, Jaen.

Some places have been affected by Sahara dust, but not all coastal areas.
Jose Luis Escudero is a meteorologist who claims that more than 2,000 lightnings strikes have been recorded in Andalucia.

On Friday, many autonomous communities were still under yellow alerts. Some areas of the Valencia community are also on orange alert.
Meteorologists predict that the weather will remain unsettled in the next few days. There is a possibility of storms, mud rain and other events due to the Saharan dust remaining in the air.
