Spain working with Portugal and Morocco to host 2035 FIFA Women’s World Cup finals - CSN News

CSN News reports that Spain will work with Portugal and Morocco in 2035 to host the FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) has announced that it will bid jointly with Portugal and Morocco for the right to host 2035’s Women’s World Cup Finals.

Five years from now, three countries have already been announced as the hosts of the Men’s World Cup.

Rafael Louzan, the RFEF President said: “What a better way to visualize women’s sports than through the contribution of one of the biggest sporting events in the world, a World Cup?”

“We are working hard on that and the deadline is next week,” he told an audience at the King Juan Carlos University, Madrid.

Spain is the current Women’s World Cup Champion, having defeated England in the final at Sydney in August 2023.

Their success has been somewhat tainted due to the controversy over the kissing between Jenni Hermoso and former RFEF head Luis Rubiales.

The RFEF was heavily criticized for what happened, including alleged attempts by the player to intimidate him to minimize the damage Rubiales caused who resigned 3 weeks later.

Rafael Louzan’s announcement was a surprise, but he didn’t elaborate further.

Monste Tome said, “It would make a great deal of sense if Spain was one of the possible options for bringing the Women’s World Cup to our country.”

The RFEF has confirmed the source. El Pais Newspaper: “We are working with Portugal, Morocco and we are receiving some good feedback.”

The source said that the plan was to use 2030, with its infrastructures in place, as a base for a bid for 2035.

FIFA, the world’s governing body of football, will make the final call in the second quarter next year.
