CSN News reports that luxury watch thieves riding motorbikes and brandishing guns targeted diners in high-end Madrid restaurants.


A VENEZUELAN band wore suits and walked into upmarket Madrid restaurant to look for potential victims who were wearing expensive watches.

The thieves then stole items from the victims on the street, before fleeing on motorbikes.

The Policia Nacional has arrested five people between the ages of 20 and 30.

Two of them were arrested during an attack on a man in a restaurant located in the La Moraleja Urbanization.

They have been charged with four robberies in which they stole watches worth €100,000.

Angel Sanchez said that the group was one of our most violent and aggressive groups. They had no qualms about attacking victims.

Officers recovered two stolen motorcycles used in robberies. They also found a pistol hidden in a compartment.

The police probe started in September when two people on a motorcycle stole a watch and a gold chain valued at over €30,000 from a man inside an underground car park.

The victim had a gun pointed at her and was assaulted.

In November, two other robberies took place under similar circumstances. On February 3, two men riding a bicycle snatched an expensive watch. They intimidated their victim with a gun.

A criminal dressed in a nice suit, and went into a restaurant in an up-market district of Madrid.

His task was to identify diners wearing high-end watches and provide his accomplices a description of the latest target.

The thieves hid their faces behind motorcycle helmets and waited outside to rob the man.

The stolen watches were being sold in Spain on the black market, and then taken out of Spain by third-parties.
