Irish passenger flying from Spain to Liverpool is caught with 18kg of drugs in his suitcase

CSN News reports that an Irish passenger who was flying from Spain into Liverpool with 18kg of drug in his luggage has been caught.


A passenger who planned to fly from Alicante Elche to Liverpool was caught with over 18 kilos in his suitcase.

The 36 year old man was charged for drug trafficking and smuggling.

He was bailed out after appearing in front of an Elche judge, and claiming his right to be silent.

The man is required to appear in court at least once every 15 days.

A private security guard at the airport of Alicante-Elche scanned suitcase contents with X-ray machines and noticed that the case could contain illegal acorn substances.

The Guardia Civil asked the owner of the suitcase to accompany them at luggage control.

The man cooperated, and the officer opened the case in his presence. Among clothes and footwear, they found vacuum-packed bags of hashish.

He was then taken into custody and hauled in front of a judge.
