Russian fugitive wanted over corrupt land deals is arrested in Alicante following Interpol tip-off

CSN News reports that a Russian wanted for corrupt land deals was arrested in Alicante after Interpol received a tip.


A fugitive RUSSIAN has been arrested by Alicante police for alleged shady deals with land in his home country.

Interpol alerted the Policia Nacional about the 52-year old man who lives in the city.

The Russian authorities are looking for him over an alleged fraud in which he allegedly purchased three public lands illegally in the Saint Petersburg region.

The fake documents used for the transfer were used.

The con amounted to over 28 million Russian rubles- equivalent to around €300,000.

He is said by some to have been a part of the group who tried to trick Vsevolozhskiy’s local authority, located 25 kilometers from Saint Petersburg. The plots were owned by this local authority.

The Policia Nacional located a man who was convicted of three counts for fraud and faces up 10 years behind bars.

It is not known for how long he’s been in Spain.

The National Court of Madrid will hold the suspect in custody before deciding whether or not he should be extradited back to Russia.

The extradition of Spanish citizens to Russia has been complicated ever since the start of the Ukraine War in 2022.
