A DRUGGED DRIVER has been arrested for plowing into a group cyclists in Calpe, killing one.
A 20-year old Spaniard was charged with homicide and causing injury, as well as violating the road safety regulations.
On Sunday, around 11.30am, a collision occurred between 20 people on the N-332 in Altea direction just outside of the Mascarart Tunnel.

Authorities reported that a male rider from Azpeitia, Basque Country, died almost instantly.
He was thrown in the air, and then landed on the embankment of the road.
His son was 14 years old and suffered a broken leg. He was transported to Denia Hospital.
After a positive test for driving under influence of drugs, the motorist was treated by the Guardia Civil for shock.


The investigation is being conducted by officers based in Benidorm who are experts in investigating road accidents.
Recent years have seen a series of serious incidents on the N-332 section between Altea, Spain and Calpe, France.
Paramedics in April of last year saved the life a motorcyclist that was involved in a collision with a vehicle.
