Within minutes of a foreign tourist’s wallet being stolen in Benidorm, nine transactions were made using the missing credit card.

Nevertheless, the Policia Nacional arrested the two men behind the theft and a shop manager who used the card – just 20 minutes after the robbery.

A holidaymaker returned to his apartment in the early morning when he was robbed of his wallet by a man, who fled on a motorcycle driven by his colleague.

The victim called the police who sent patrols to the Old Town area in search of the criminals.

The tourist and officers watched as the charges piled up on the app of his phone, but thanks to a description given by the bike’s owner, the bike was soon located outside a local business.

The victim’s online account had a charge that matched the name of the location.

After spotting two men trying to flee, police officers blocked the exits of the building.

One of the three had US Dollar bills, UK Pounds and Brazilian currency in their pockets.

Officers spotted a store manager throw four pieces of the cut up credit card in the name of the tourist into a corner.

He also had a card for health care that didn’t belong to him.

The police then analyzed three terminals located at the counter. They showed all the purchase statements that were made using the stolen credit card.

€2,610 was also found in the cash till, which officially recorded just €3 of business that day.

Three suspects were arrested and charged with theft, fraud money laundering, and belonging to criminal groups.
