Carlos Mazon, president of VALENCIA, held talks with New York officials on Thursday in order to reestablish a direct flight to the United States which was discontinued in 2012.
Mazon spoke with Scott Jordan, the sales manager of Delta Air, and emphasized that the government’s goal was to restore flights.
Delta offered four weekly flights to Valencia Airport from 2009, but discontinued them due to losses.

Mazon said, “We’re confident that sooner or later, we’ll get back the route.”
It remains to be determined whether the service will be offered at Alicante or Valencia airports.
Air Transat, a Canadian carrier, will launch a high-season weekly route between Montreal and Valencia starting in June. The route will end in October.
Mazon said that the Valencian Community was a growing tourist area with many offerings for the US Market, including gastronomy and sports, culture and health tourism.
He added that Delta is ‘is closely monitoring tourism’ in the region and emphasised a ‘shared commitment to high-value, high-quality, and business-oriented tourism’.
The President met also with Valencian firms that operate in New York City and New Jersey.
Faced with possible increases in US tariffs, He promised to boost their promotion in America.
Carlos Mazon stated: “We will not abandon our investment and growth capability in the United States. What is happening now is a transition period that will make us even stronger.”
He commented on the ‘good state’ of Valencian products in North America, such as footwear, ceramics and technology.
