The ultimate guide to eating vegan in Malaga, Spain - CSN News

CSN News presents the ultimate guide for vegans in Malaga.

Malaga is the undisputed vegan Mecca of Costa del Sol.

Our comprehensive guide features dozens and dozens best locations scattered throughout the old town.

La Vegana is one of the best restaurants in Andalucia. It reinvents traditional Andalucian food.

If you are jealous of holidaymakers enjoying their espetos on the beach, you’ll love the restaurant’s range of vegan ‘seafood’ including pil pil prawns, cuttlefish, squid rings and lemon garnished fish.

For those who prefer a hearty ‘meat’ dish, try the choripan (chorizo and bread), the Spanish omelet or meatballs in an almond sauce.

La Vegana offers so many choices that it is hard to choose.

Vegabonty bakery in Fuengirola also offers some of the best desserts, so try them if you’re not able to leave the city.

Starting at just €3.50, La Vegana is a local, down to earth and purse friendly option for those hoping to try traditional Spanish cuisine.

Recyclo Bike Cafe in Malaga’s trendy Soho district is the next stop on the list.

This is the perfect spot for anyone. It’s a bike shop, cafe, live music venue and restaurant. You can even order meat dishes as vegan versions.

Recyclo Bike Cafe is a cool, relaxed place.

The best thing about the Recyclo store is its selection of vegan sweets. One in particular, a chocolate peanut-butter cake, which I can still taste today.

There’s also a great selection of craft beer on tap.

Meet Vegano is a little more expensive in the historical quarter.

The dishes at Meet, though on the more expensive end of the spectrum, are well worth the couple of extra euros.

The small restaurant was packed when I visited but I enjoyed sitting at the cozy bar and eating my mushroom burger with a pretzel bun.

The crunchy mushroom burger tasted delicious.

It was deep fried, perfectly seasoned and served with garlic mayo. Waffle fries were also included.

Even though I haven’t been back yet, I’d say yes to eating that burger once again.

A visit to Malaga would not be complete without a tour of the best vegan dessert spots in the city.

I love Yummy Helados. It is conveniently located right next to the Cathedral.

I would recommend pistachio or a brownie with lots of goo.

Bun and Coffee, located nearby, offers a variety of hot drinks and donuts.

While I haven’t had time to explore all of Malaga’s vegan options, I have been given recommendations for Mimo Vegan and Rukula. Breakfast and Pancake House was also recommended, as were La Siria and El Rincon de Flor.
