Details of his arrest were not made public until Thursday.
A Guardia Civil Patrol spotted three people in a bar/restaurant terrace. One of the men tried to hide from the officers when they saw him.
He was asked to produce some form of identification due to his behavior.
He was taken to Torrevieja Guardia Barracks where his fingerprints revealed his true identity after determining that the document was fake.
Guardia Civil stated that the man has spent the last three year hiding in Spain with fake documents of identity to avoid being captured.
They continue to investigate, however, in order to determine whether or not he has continued his criminal activities within the country.
A Torrevieja Court jailed him pending the extradition process.
