CSN News: Dead cyclist found near Ronda as Malaga’s road death toll reaches three in one day


On Tuesday, a CYCLIST found dead in a ravine near Ronda in the municipality Montejaque. 

The body was found in an area that is difficult to reach along the MA-80403 route, which links Malaga with Ronda and Sevilla. Los Caballeros dam – known locally as Montejaque’s ‘ghost reservoir’.

The death toll in Malaga province has now reached three. One motorcyclist, aged 58, died following a serious accident, while another was found charred inside of a burning vehicle.

Around 6:20pm, emergency services received a phone call from a witness advising of the discovery of a deceased person on the scene.

The witness said that he saw a bike helmet at the indicated location, which prompted emergency services to respond.

Mountain Rescue and Intervention Group Members (GREIM), who are trained to deal with difficult terrain, were called upon to provide assistance.

Near the entrance to Hundidero, the rescue team found the body next to a bike. The individual is believed to have fallen from a height between 50 and 60 metres.

The identities of the deceased, and other details about the incident are still being kept under wraps.

Authorities have begun an investigation to determine what caused the accident.
