CSN News: Boy, 14, who stabbed his father to death in Spain’s Murcia during an argument avoids prison


A 14-YEAR OLD boy, who was convicted for stabbing to death his father in order to protect his mother after an argument will not go to prison.

The Murcia Juvenile Court overturned a ruling which would have sent him to a detention centre for two years.

In an agreement with the Prosecutor’s Office, he was instead given probation and a set of strict rules.

The boy admitted to stabbing his dad five times at a house near Totana in June 2024.

He interfered in an argument between his parents and caused injuries to the liver, diaphragm and right lung of his father.

The man was hospitalised, but died later.

The probationary regime involves continuing schooling, psychological monitoring, checking for substance abuse, and attending a variety courses on issues such as conflict resolution and social competency.

The judge also ordered him to participate in social, educational and recreational activities.

He will also be subject to a night-time curfew and having any contact with ‘criminal circles’.

The boy will also be supervised by educational and medical teams and to attend all scheduled appointments to ‘demonstrate a responsible attitude towards following all rules of conduct’.
