CSN News: Alicante’s violent crime is on the rise. 2024 was the second highest year for murders recorded.

The murder rate in ALICANTE province reached 20 homicides in the last year, which is the second highest number recorded.

In 2023 there were only 11 murders and in 2015 the number of murders was only 30.

Spain’s Interior Ministry released statistics that cover gender violence, scores being settled, even disputes between neighbors and a Russian assassination.

The murder of Belfast man John George, who was killed in mid-December and whose body was discovered in Rojales in last month.

A 15-year old girl from Orihuela, Costa was fatally stabbed by her 17-year-old ex-boyfriend in late November.

She became the youngest death as a result from gender violence in Alicante Province since records began.

A Norwegian tourist was arrested during the summer for fatally stabbing their husband in front their three children while they were on holiday at the Orihuela Costa.

Villajoyosa witnessed three murders. One of them was on February 13, last year, when a former Russian helicopter pilot gave his helicopter to the Ukrainian Army.

The 28-year old man, who had settled in Costa Blanca, was murdered by Russian agents on a parking lot.

In December, a settling of scores between former business partners resulted in his murder with two hitmen arrested this month who charged €40,000 for their services.

A Villajoyosa male was also detained in December for killing his roommate and dumping the body of the victim down a deep well.
