On Saturday, 22nd of February, I had the pleasure to enjoy a fantastic night at Auditorio Ciudad de Vera.
I bought tickets for me and my family because we love to see flamenco live and enjoy it. What we didn’t expect was that the performance would be so amazing.
The evening began elegantly with a presentation, in which I learned about the heritage and lineage the musicians were about to perform. Antonio Sanchez is a guitar player who is a relative of Paco Del Lucia, a favourite artist of mine.
Juan Jose Fernandez played behind the curtain. His flute grew louder as he appeared on the stage. The first time I saw the Flamenco Flute, it was immediately clear that it deserves to be a part of the art form alongside the Spanish guitar. Once you hear it, you will wonder why the flute isn’t used more often. It has a beautiful melodic quality.
Vera Auditorium is hosting another great concert.
Juan Jose Fernandez (22 years old) is a musician from Vera. He is a student who has devoted himself to his craft. It was clear that his fellow musicians loved and supported him the moment he took to the stage. Rafita de Madrid and Juan Farina on vocals, Antonio Sanchez on guitar, El Tobalo and Paquetito Porrina on percussion, and the dancer El Barullo – Farruco have quite literally and figuratively embraced this rising star. It was an incredible experience to witness the camaraderie, respect and love in person.
