A man who was on the run in France from French authorities over a murder, has been arrested by Alicante police.
The Policia Nacional stated that the fugitive intended to escape to his home country of Algeria.
He could be sentenced to up to thirty years in prison, if found guilty of the killing that took place in Saint-Etienne last February 9.

The autopsy of the male victim revealed evidence of strangulation.
The suspect fled into Spain, and French authorities issued an European Arrest warrant in his name early in March.
Investigations revealed that he was using Spain as a ‘stopping point’ before heading to Algeria.
He spent a short time in Ciudad Real thanks to a friend but changed his address and provinces repeatedly to avoid being discovered.
The man was identified and arrested in Alicante City.
The National Court, which deals with extradition requests, has taken custody of this man.
