After weeks of speculation, Cristiano Cristiano has revealed his plans for next season.
The Portuguese legend shines at age 40. Ronaldo played a decisive role in Portugal’s UEFA Nations League triumph, scoring in both the semifinal against Germany (2-1) and the dramatic final versus Spain, which ended 2–2 and was decided on penalties.
You’re staying at Al Nassr, Ronaldo? Yeah.”
Ronaldo has ended the debate on the Saudi Arabian rumours with a simple and clear statement.
“My future? Nothing’s going to change. Are you staying at Al Nassr Hotel? He told the journalists that he agreed after Portugal’s victory over Spain in Munich.
This one word confirmation put an end to weeks of uncertainty. Al Nassr is yet to issue an official statement but Ronaldo’s response effectively ends any summer moves.
Ronaldo received numerous transfer offers
Ronaldo said he’d received several offers over the past few weeks. This included clubs that were preparing to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup which is set to be held in the U.S.A. between June 14 and July 13, 2014. Despite this, Ronaldo has chosen to stay with Al Nassr.
Fernando Hierro, the director of sport at Sporting Barcelona, had confirmed in the past that Ronaldo’s contract negotiations were still ongoing. He said: “We continue to negotiate with Cristiano.” We are hoping to find a resolution on a contract renewal.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 is the final mission.
Ronaldo’s decision has more to do with football than just football. In Saudi Arabia he’s respected, influential and comfortable. He’s not only the top scorer but also the face of Al Nassr and a symbol for the Saudi Pro League.
In the 2024–2025 season, he finished as the league’s top scorer for the second year in a row with 25 goals in 30 appearances, despite Al Nassr failing to win a trophy. In Saudi Arabia, his overall stats are impressive: 93 goals in 105 games and 19 assists. He played over 9,200 minutes.
Ronaldo is clear that he wants Portugal to be represented at the FIFA World Cup in 2026, when he will be 41. Ronaldo, who has been playing regularly and is in a key role at Al Nassr for the past few years, is gearing up to take part in his last international trip.
