Costa Del Sol weather warnings. The amber alert that was issued Tuesday for high temperatures has now been upgraded. On Wednesday, a yellow warning for wind and heat has also been issued.

The extreme heat warning for Tuesday has been upgraded to amber. (19th August), A yellow alert is in effect for Wednesday (20th August). Spain’s National Weather Agency issued the warnings (AEMET), On Tuesday, temperatures could reach up to 40c and on Wednesday, the Costa Del Sol may experience highs as low as 38c..   The weather warnings are active between 1pm and 9pm on both days.

The yellow alert for Wednesday includes an additional warning about gale-force 7 winds along the coast.  The wind speed is expected to reach up to 60km/h, and the waves may reach a height of 3 meters.

High temperatures could pose a threat Pet owners are reminded to provide shade, water and shelter for their pets.  Fires are also more likely to spread, which has been known in the past to destroy areas on the Costa Del Sol.

Amber: Prepare yourself. Be prepared.

Red: Take action. Extreme weather can be expected. Red means the area is at risk and people should act now to ensure their safety and that of others. There is a high probability of widespread damage, power outages and travel disruptions.
