Estepona has given a street named after Alan James. He is a businessman and a winner of awards.
Attending the event on Tuesday, April 29 was José Mª García Urbano, the mayor of Estepona, to officially unveil the new street sign along with a plenty of family, friends, colleagues and business partners.
The project is named after Alan and Carol James. They arrived on the Costa del Sol in 1955, back during Franco’s reign. At the time, no one imagined what Alan would do for the southern coast of Spain.
After 15 years in the concrete industry, Alan, who was self-taught, heard that northern Europeans are increasingly interested in purchasing second homes along the Spanish coast. Alan knew that Northern Europeans preferred space and light, while Spaniards like to be close to each other. A new type of Spanish coastal lifestyle was born.
The Experience Group, formed with partners who shared Alan’s vision, was born. Alan’s business acumen has helped the Costa del Sol to become what it is today.
Alan is still in the office each morning, despite being 87. ‘On the ground floor of the offices we have construction, management, rental and sales. On the second floor, there is a division of electronics and telecoms. There are four companies that do everything with electronics from fibre optics to solar and air conditioning. My daughters have taken over the reins, but I am still here. Alan tells Alan that his desk has not changed.
Alan James was unaware of the event until the crowd began to gather and applaud Alan James, who is Costa del Sol.
