A LAWYER orchestrated an Elche scam wherein car accidents had been staged in order to receive insurance payouts.
Policia Nacional has arrested 13 people, including a minor of 16 years old for crimes committed between 2015-2024.
The claims were staged by the same gang who used the exact same procedure to create a collision.

The group members would wait around roundabouts for cars to exit them incorrectly, and then they would collide with the car.
‘Victims’ then contacted the Elche Policia Local to report an accident where they made it clear that they were the innocent party.
Fraudsters would go to rehabilitation and health centres to overstate their injuries, and get long treatments in order to increase the amount of money that an insurer paid.
The lawyer who was running the plot complained to the insurance company that it took too long to pay, claiming this was holding up legal action.
He took a portion of the compensation.
The lawyer provided comprehensive briefings on how to stage an accident with a special focus on guaranteeing a minimum number of people per vehicle, which raised what was paid to ‘victims’.
The arrests were all made in Elche, with 13 people facing charges for fraud, document forged, and being part of a criminal group.
Policia Nacional has launched a second phase of its investigation to identify other individuals involved, at least 3 more.
Authorities haven’t revealed the exact amount of money that was stolen from insurance companies.
