HOUR-LONG queues, €45 million in tourist spending, and more than 120,000 fans: the Malaga edition of the San Diego Comic-Con event, the first licensed expansion of the famous convention, officially kicked off this Thursday, September 25 at the Palacio de Ferias y Congresos, and it’s already looking to be one of the biggest events of the year for the bustling city. The queue to enter in the morning was hundreds of people long and featured excited visitors dressed up, or ‘cosplaying,’ as a variety of video game, comic book, movie, and TV characters.

The convention will feature more than 300 hours worth of content, special guests, and star appearances. Malaga Comic-Con – a unique experience

Malaga’s Comic-Con, which will take place over four days, will be a centre of culture and tourism. It will include celebrity appearances as well as panels, contests and competitions. There will also be special merchandise and a large international brand presence. This multi-genre event is held annually in San Diego in California. It is the largest entertainment event of its kind and the longest-running comics, popular arts, and convention in the entire world.

The Malaga San Diego Comic-Con organizers had originally planned to distribute 60,000 tickets over the four-day event. However, the response from the public was overwhelming. Organisers released an additional 66,000 tickets to show the excitement and anticipation for the geeky gathering. Malaga, Spain’s Costa del Sol will have a major impact on tourism in these days.

Malaga’s San Diego Comic-Con, which will run until Sunday, 28 September, is already a driving force behind tourist spending and foreign tourism.
