The new year is the ideal time to adopt healthier and more conscientious eating habits after the indulgences that come with the festive season. The popular Mercado Agroalimentario de Coin, which is held every Sunday in January, will be a vibrant meeting place for those who love authentic Malaga flavors.
The open-air market welcomes visitors from 9am-2.30pm to explore more than 50 types of Malaga cheeses made primarily with goat and sheep milk, using traditional production techniques that respect the history and landscape of the region.
Among the participating producers are Cabraline, El Arquillo, El Pastor del Torcal, El Pastor del Valle, El Pinsapo, La Hortelana, Montes de Malaga, Rey Cabra, and Santa María del Cerro. These renowned cheesemakers will showcase everything from semi-cured and fresh cheeses to cured long-aged varieties, as well as other handcrafted dairy items. These cheeses are a testament to the quality and variety of Malaga’s cheese tradition. Many have won top international awards.
Eco market begins with Cheese Fair
The January event marks the official launch of the 2026 calendar of markets, which will be held on the third Sunday each month, except during the summer, strengthening the commitment to small businesses and local producers as well as quality, sustainable foods.
Along with the cheeses that are the highlight of the market, you will find artisanal breads, honeys from the Guadalhorce valley, olive oil, and many other seasonal products. This is the perfect way to build a pantry full of healthy, balanced and local foods.
The Mercado Agroalimentario de Coin is organised by the Asociación Quesos de Malaga in collaboration with Coin Council. Parking is easy to find and the admission is free. This is an ideal family-friendly event for people of all ages.
Whether you’re looking to restock your kitchen with wholesome local products or simply enjoy a pleasant Sunday morning surrounded by Málaga’s finest gastronomic treasures, the Cheese Market in Coín on January 18 promises to be the perfect way to start the year on a delicious and healthy note.
