Climbing La Concha 8 times for Darkness into Light

Climbing La Concha eight times for Darkness to Light

On May 11, Darkness into Light will be held, an annual event to raise money for AFESOL (the mental health charity), raise awareness about suicide and self-harm, and remember those who have died.

Chris Grenfell from Eastbourne, now living in Monda in Spain, will be taking a long route to get there. There will be walks at Benalmadena La Cala de Mijas Estepona but he will take it the long way. Chris Grenfell has registered for Darkness into Light, a 24-hour event that will see him hike and cycle from Marbella up to the top of La Concha and back eight times over.

The super-fit property management, building and maintenance guy has done 150 rounds of boxing before, in March 2020.

‘This year I am attempting the sea-to-summit challenge, a hike to 1184m above sea level, starting from Cable Beach up to Cruz de Juanar and then cycling back from there to the coast to start again. This will have to be completed 8 times, as it is the equivalent of climbing the height of Everest.’

It is hard to imagine how much energy this man has in his professional career. Chris Grendel is a specialist in property management and can be contacted on 952-832-967. On their website you can also sign up for Darkness into Light. darknessintolight.ie.
