Chinese nationals arrested for importing €6m of fake goods to sell in Spain


THE Guardia Civil has seized counterfeit items valued at around €6 million stored in warehouses around Spain.

The items included fake clothing, toys, electrical products, and cigarette lights.

Three Chinese nationals were arrested, and four more are being investigated.

They are accused by the police of crimes against industrial properties and smuggling.

The Guardia had been scouting out various warehouses over a period of time, and on May 7 they conducted a series coordinated raids.

Unannounced officers appeared at locations in Manises, Quart de Poblet and Malaga City as well as Badalona and Barcelona province.

Fake products with a retail value of around €5 million were removed.

Two more warehouses were raided in Manises a week later.

Over 110,000 counterfeit lighters of a well-known brand with a value of €550,000 were seized on that occasion plus clothes and toys as well as tech products.

The Guardia Civil and Quart de Poblet court in Valencia coordinated the operation.
