Children of British expat murdered and buried by their father attend poignant Vigil in her Memory

The three children of an expat British woman murdered in a London hotel were among hundreds who attended a moving vigil yesterday for her.

Victoria Hart, the ex-partner of their father and murderer, was found dead at her Alhaurin el Grande residence on Saturday.

Juan Antonio Rueda, who had killed the 33-year old mother and later turned himself in to a prison near her home where he admitted that he had murdered his own children’s mother.

Hundreds attended the vigil in front of Alhaurin el Grande Town Hall.

Hart’s mother, and her sister, stood with these three children, one 11-year-old and two 7 year old twins. They both thanked the crowd for paying their respects.

Approximately 250 people gathered at the townhall steps of Alhaurin el Grande to release 100 balloons in the air and celebrate the life Hart, who was loved by the community.

The event was attended by local councillors as well as friends and family.

At 5pm, pupils from Hart’s school also gathered to observe the minute of silence.

Speaking to this crowd was Hart’s sister, Jessica Cussen, who said: ‘Thank you all for coming today, all I have to say at this moment is, we want justice for Victoria, and we will get justice for Victoria.’

On social media, Cussen posted an image of a woman circled by a purple ribbon with the phrase ‘Stop domestic violence’ (Alto a la violencia domestica).

Hart had only installed cameras last October after her former partner ‘threatened to kill her’ saying to her ‘you are going to leave with your feet first’.

Hart, along with Cussen and Cussen’s mother, was granted a restraining orders which was broken multiple times.

She, however, did not want to report these breaches because ‘she did not want to feel responsible if the father of her children were to go to prison,’ a close friend of Hart told SUR.

The mother also believed that her ex-partner was incapable of ‘carrying out his threats’.

Antonio Rueda, who allegedly used a kitchen blade, entered her house on Saturday morning at 10.40am and fatally stabbed her.

She was unable to be saved by emergency services despite looking out into the street and begging her for help.

The officials discovered her in a bloody pool, with her three small children and murder weapon by her side.

Yesterday’s vigil was part of Alhaurin’s official day of grief declared by the town hall.

Victoria is believed to be the first female victim of violence against women in Malaga, but the Ministry of Equality has yet to confirm this.
