DEBRA Piel de Mariposa is planning two golf tournaments to benefit people with Butterfly Skin in Marbella. The money raised will be used to pay for the salary of a nurse in the socio-health department. This professional is a vital link between patients and their relatives in Spain.
On 12 August, players and partners will gather at Marbella Club Golf Resort. On 3 October, they will meet at Aloha Golf Club. The two dates will bring together golfers who are ready to help those with this rare disease.
Specialised nursing support across Spain
DEBRA nurses accompany families right from birth. They offer advice on daily wound-care, make home visits and provide training to main carers and staff at hospitals and health centres so that the right treatment is provided in all regions. The same nurses are available to provide consultations for clinicians and families 24 hours a days, 365 day a year, through the ESTAR BIEN program.
Understanding Butterfly Skin
Butterfly skin medically known as epidermolysis bullosaThis is a genetic disorder that causes skin and mucous surfaces to be extremely fragile. Even light contact with the skin can result in painful blisters. Wound-care professionals are essential for patients who require multiple dressing changes per day.
Details on the tournament formats and entries
The first match will be played on 12 August, in the Texas Scramble format at Marbella Club Golf Resort. The fee for teams of two, four or three players is 145 euros. This includes a buggy, a picnic and a cocktail in the Club House. The second event will be held at Aloha Golf Club, under Stableford rules. A green fee of €140 includes a picnic. Both events include prizes for the winners, a raffle in support of the event and many gifts from supporting companies.

DEBRA was founded in 1993, and is a public service organisation. It works to improve the lives of people who suffer from epidermolysis. The multidisciplinary team, which includes nurses, psychologists social workers, and researchers, provides training, advice, and support to affected families, as well as health and social professionals. The organisation also cofunds research projects, and runs awareness campaigns to draw attention unmet needs.
